Since 80% of the pinning comes from mobile users , those who live in the US and own an Apple iPhone or iPad will have the ability later this month to purchase some of the items they see on Pinterest with Buyable Pins.
This comes after many Pinners have suggested an option to buy the things that they find on Pinterest. The new option will be in the form of a blue pin and will allow you to buy the item right from the app, complete with selectable size and color options. There will be a search filter to hone in on the specific pin. Paying is easy with Apple Pay or by Credit Card. Personal information can be stored and future purchases can be as easy as the one click purchase from Amazon. But not to worry, personal information and credit card info is not stored at Pinterest but at a payment processing company who has been protecting buyers information for years.
“You’ll find millions of buyable Pins on Pinterest, from great brands like Macy’s, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, retailers powered by Demandware like Cole Haan and Michaels, and thousands of Shopify stores like Poler Outdoor Stuff and SOBU. ” Pinterest says on their Oh How Pinteresting blog. “If you want to learn more about buyable Pins for your business, visit our business blog.”
Pinterest says they will not be charging a fee for this service, neither for the consumer nor for the merchant. This will open up the door for many small to mid size businesses considering there are approximately 72.8 million users, of which approximately over 40 million are in the US.
