Twitter Rebrand – The Iconic Bird Is Now X

 In Marketing News

Twitter Rebrand Unveiled: Say Hello to X and discover the transformation of the iconic bird as Twitter takes flight into a bold new era.

Twitter known for its blue bird, has undergone a rebranding process, replacing its iconic symbol with a new logo.

Elon Musk’s decision to update Twitter’s brand is part of a large new strategy for the platform. His overall goal was never just taking control of Twitter.  The platform is to undergo major technology innovations and the logo is just the first step in the process. Musk has been hinting at the change in his Sunday morning series of tweets “bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

The X logo itself is based on a glyph from Special Alphabets 4. Musk commented that the new X logo is an “interim” version.  We would expect it to change further in the future.

This decision to change the logo is driven by  Musk’s desire to outrun the changing digital landscape and remain relevant amidst fierce competition. He acquired the platform for $44 billion late last year. The company began its transition to X  this April, when the name of Twitter Inc. was changed to X Corp.

What doe the rebrand mean for the users?

At this time just the online version has been updated and the app is expected to make the X debut soon.  The X.com domain currently forwards to Twitter and the expectation would be that eventually X.com will become the primary domain and twitter.com will redirect to it.

The main question remains:  will the tweets be now called xes?

What the future holds?

This logo change signifies an initial transformation for Twitter. It’s not just the visual identity of the platform, but a symbol of what’s yet to come. Elon Musk has long been discussing the future of the so-called “everything app”.  It would encompass all of the daily digital needs in one platform.  From banking to commerce and payments the new platform will serve more than just messaging and news.
