It’s already May and the website development trends for 2014 are starting to clearly define itself. Looks like we are all going back to basics. No more crazy and “busy” designs. Here is what I think the 2014 will bring:
1) CLEAN DESIGN
We are going back to clean lines, simple designs, solid backgrounds and basic shapes. Gone is the crazy 3D animation. We are focusing back on the content and the user. And because of the mobile focus, the complicated design will not be coming back anytime soon.
2) CONTENT, CONTENT, CONTENT
All companies have the same goal – good placement on search engines. The quality of the websites is growing rapidly. Companies incorporate their blog as a main part of their web development. We focus back on the content. It’s the most valuable trend that will continue to grow and improve the information that is being shared online.
3) FASTER LOADING
Focusing on faster loading sites is a must. With today’s mobile use, the sites have to be faster and more user friendly. We live is such a fast paced society – our websites must keep up.
4) RESPONSIVE DESIGN
If you are still sticking to the basic layout for the mobile device – it is time to move on. Mobile user want the full web experience. The mobile design with the most basic information is just frustrating for most mobile users. Focus on fully responsive websites and grow your mobile users – they will certainly appreciate it.
5) FONT USE
The days of Arial, Verdana and Times font use on the website are gone. Users are looking for a fresh new look on the website and they expect the same from the fonts incorporated into the web design.
